The fall semester deadline is April 1. The spring semester deadline is October 15.

BCA Dunedin is located at the University of Otago. University of Otago is New Zealand’s oldest and most prestigious university. The university has a presence in four New Zealand cities – Christchurch, Wellington, Auckland and Dunedin, where the majority of the 20,000 students are located. The university is situated in the center of Dunedin and the campus is a short walk from the city’s central shopping and services.

There are 20,000 students at the University of Otago. Approximately 2,500 are from abroad!

Most classes are presented through lectures of 200-400 students, with smaller tutorials or laboratories of 10-20 students taking place to provide more individualized attention. You will be assessed using tests, written assignments, laboratory work, and a final exam that lasts two to three hours. The University of Otago offers strong academic support services to help you excel in a new academic culture.

You can get involved in Unipol, Otago’s recreation and sports center that organizes trips around the South Island. Access to the UniPol gym is free! You could also participate in 70+ clubs and societies through the Otago Uni Students’ Association.

You will live in co-ed university flats near campus with other international students and one New Zealand student, your Kiwi host.

While not necessarily an internship, students can gain professional experience through the University of Otago’s education program. It involves taking 3 classes and then participating in a 5-week practical experience teaching and observing in local schools. There are no internships set up through BCA for this program aside from that, although your resident director may have suggestions for you if you choose to seek one out on your own.

There are also plenty of volunteering opportunities such as protecting wildlife and natural habitats, assisting in after-school programs, and participating as a research assistant at the university.

Yes! As a BCA Dunedin Student, you will need a visa. You can apply for a visa once you receive an offer of a place from the University of Otago. Your BCA Program Adviser will provide more information about this process.
