We are excited to congratulate two BCA Study Abroad students who were awarded the Benjamin A. Gilman Scholarship for their spring 2020 semesters abroad! Meet Ania and Grace, who will be setting off on their study abroad journeys very soon.

Ania
BCA Site: Maynooth University in Dublin, Ireland
Major: Environmental Studies, minor in Peace & Conflict Studies
Home University: Manchester University in Manchester, Indiana

“While studying abroad I aim to develop a deeper understanding of conflict resolution and of the organization of grassroots movements…At the conclusion of my spring semester in Ireland, I hope to have more insight on how to bring sustainable change to my home community.”

Grace
BCA Site: The University of Otago in Dunedin, New Zealand
Major: Biology
Home University: Juniata College in Huntingdon, Pennsylvania

“I chose the University of Otago because they offer a bio-ethics course… Taking this course is very important to me because it will help me cultivate my understanding of what is ethically acceptable in medicine and its effects on society. Doing this will bring me a step closer to my ultimate goal, which is to become a genetic counselor.”

Congratulations, Ania and Grace, and safe travels! We’ll check back in with both of them later in the semester to see how they’re enjoying life in Dublin and Dunedin.
