The city of Tetouan, declared a World Cultural Heritage by UNESCO, stands out for its strategic location, as it is less than sixty kilometers from Algeciras, Spain to the north and sixty kilometers east of Tangier, Morocco. The small size of the city allows you to easily become integrated and immersed into the local culture, which is famous for its legendary generosity and tolerance.
While studying Arabic in Tetouan, you can enjoy the city’s excellent beaches, which are undoubtedly among the most beautiful in the entire Mediterranean area, and its evergreen Rif Mountains, which spread eastwards along a distance of more than 500 kilometers and its five-century-old Medina.
Housing and Meals
You will live with host families and breakfast and dinner will be provided by these families. In addition, you will receive a lunch stipend so you can eat lunch at local cafes close to school rather than having to travel back home between morning and afternoon classes.
In the host family, you will either have a single room or a shared room with another Dar Loughat student or family member of similar age. Bathrooms are shared with the families.
The main mode of transportation during your time in Morocco will be walking. However, you may also take public buses or taxis to travel around Tetouan or between the school and your host family.
Dar Loughat has two student computers with Internet access and free Wi-Fi connection during school hours for students who bring their laptops.
