Volunteering

BCA encourages students to take advantage of learning opportunities both in and beyond the classroom! The Cheltenham program offers a number of opportunities to complete a volunteer experience.

The Student Union at the University of Gloucestershire provides a wide range of volunteering placements including:

  • Activity Time: work with children in creative ways (arts and crafts, music and drama)
  • Hub Club: socialize with adults with learning difficulties through bingo, football, crafts, pool and other activities
  • Splash: teach children how to swim
  • Tea Dances: help to plan dances for the elderly

We are working to establish new volunteer opportunities all the time, so please let us know when completing your application if you are interested in volunteering while studying abroad. Note that if you’re interested in volunteering in the UK, you will need to apply for a different visa, so please plan accordingly.

Once you are on site, your resident director will work with you to find a placement that fits your schedule and your goals, as well as the organization’s needs.  Our hope is that your volunteering experience will be mutually beneficial for both you and the organization!  BCA’s expectation is that students take their volunteering commitment seriously and demonstrate this by faithful attendance and communication with their organization.
