Thank you very much for considering The University of Gloucestershire, Cheltenham, England, as your BCA Study Abroad destination! Whether you are looking to immerse yourself in traditional surroundings or looking for the opportunity to study in high quality, state-of-the-art facilities, you will find Cheltenham a safe, welcoming and stunning part of the world.
Cheltenham, found in the county of Gloucestershire, is nestled in the West Midlands of England only two hours from the bright lights of London, 45 minutes from the young and modern city of Bristol and one hour from the historic city of Bath. Cheltenham is a regency town and feels like “a town within a park” because of its use of green spaces. Cheltenham can be considered the gateway to the majestic Cotswolds, where you can easily access those traditional English villages such as Bourton on the Water, situated in peaceful countryside and boasting some of the most beautiful architecture. Created in the traditional methods and with local Cotswold stone, this culminates in some of the most picturesque scenery found in England.
However, don’t be fooled that Cheltenham is just a sleepy town, with its fantastic range of shops, the newly developed Brewery Quarter, as well as the town centre itself, you can find restaurants and bars from around the world, two cinemas, a wonderful theatre, all within short walking distance of your accommodation. Cheltenham is also a cultural hub, with its world famous Jazz, Literature, Science & Technology and Food & Drink festivals throughout the year, attracting some of the top professionals in their fields. These are, of course, all discounted for students. We are also home to the most famous horse race on the calendar, “The Cheltenham Gold Cup”. Lasting for one week, this meeting attracts over 200,000 people from around the world who all descend on Cheltenham, turning the whole town into one big festival!
