Where do BCA Brussels students study?
Students will learn alongside other international students at Vesalius College, an American-style institution in the capital of Belgium that offers fascinating courses and impressive internship opportunities. Brussels is world famous for its gastronomy including mussels, fries, chocolate, and more—students rave about it! Besides that, you’ll find plenty of opportunities to hike, visit historic museums and monuments, explore nearby cities, and discover all the creativity and excitement that Brussels has to offer.
How many native and international students attend this school?
Around 300-400 students enroll in Vesalius College, and 2/3 of them are international students!
What are the class sizes?
The maximum class size is anywhere from 25-35 students, but sometimes the roster may only consist of 5 or 6 students in certain classes.
What is the teaching and assessment style abroad?
Vesalius College provides a small and interactive learning environment with continuous assessment. Classes are taught in English and will follow an American-style format. Vesalius is registered with the Flemish government as an institution of higher education.
What are some student life activities available on campus?
Check out campus life here! Besides entertainment and cultural events, you can participate in Vesalius College’s Serve the City volunteer group. Students can also partake in gym/sports activities at Vrije Universiteit Brussel, a university associated with Vesalius College and within walking distance. See what’s available!
What are the accommodations like? Who will I be living with?
You will have a private room in the home of a Belgian host family so that you can immerse yourself in Belgian culture. You’ll share meals with your host family during breakfast and dinner, and receive a meal stipend for lunch.
Are internships available?
Yes! Students can apply for fantastic internships at more than 40 companies through the Vesalius Internship Program. Fields range from Business, International Affairs, Communications, and beyond.
Do I need a visa to study in Belgium?
All U.S. citizens must obtain a student visa from a Belgian embassy or consulate in the U.S. in order to study in Belgium. Please consult the Belgian Embassy website at www.diplobel.org to determine to which consulate you will need to apply for a visa. Regulations are generally updated each May for the following academic year. It is important to call the consulate or embassy prior to getting your visa to ensure that you have the necessary documents and that you follow the proper procedures.
Do I need to know Dutch or French to participate in the program?
You do not need to know a language to participate in our program in Brussels. You will attend an American-style, English-language liberal arts College.
Is Internet/Wi-Fi available?
You will find Wi-Fi at the College, at many establishments around the city, and in most of the host family’s homes.
